چکیده

Abstract A multidirectional damage model was proposed to predict fatigue evolution and final failure of composite laminates in this paper. characterization for established characterize the influence three main modes on damaged mechanical behavior at micro–macro level. The also based mechanics stiffness degradation by means model. Then, a relationship between residual strength introduced, from which could be obtained according predicted stiffness. When is calculated decrease maximum applied stress loading after several cycles, laminate assumed fail, accordingly life obtained. In order verify model, two cross-ply under loadings with different levels were compared experimental results. standard derivation average errors prediction results less than 0.1 8.26%, respectively, indicating effectiveness reliability

A Damage Mechanics-Based Fatigue Life Prediction Model for Solder Joints

A thermomechanical fatigue life prediction model based on the theory of damage mechanics is presented. The damage evolution, corresponding to the material degradation under cyclic thermomechanical loading, is quantified thermodynamic framework. The damage, as an internal state variable, is coupled with unified viscoplastic constitutive model to characterize the response of solder alloys. The da...

Damage and failure in low energy impact of fiber-reinforced polymeric composite laminates

We analyze the damage initiation, damage progression, and failure during 3-dimensional (3-D) elastoplastic deformations of a fiber reinforced polymeric laminated composite impacted by a low speed rigid sphere, and compare computed results with experimental findings available in the literature. Damage is assumed to initiate when one of Hashin’s failure criteria is satisfied, and its evolution is...

FEM Implementation of the Coupled Elastoplastic/Damage Model: Failure Prediction of Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRPs) Composites

The coupled damage/plasticity model for meso-level which is ply-level in case of Uni-Directional (UD) Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRPs) is implemented. The mathematical formulations, particularly the plasticity part, are discussed in a comprehensive manner. The plastic potential is defined in effective stress space and the damage evolution is based on the theory of irreversible thermodynamics. T...

Fatigue Damage Modelling of Fibre-reinforced Composite Materials: Review

This paper presents a review of the major fatigue models and life time prediction methodologies for fibrereinforced polymer composites, subjected to fatigue loadings. In this review, the fatigue models have been classified in three major categories: fatigue life models, which do not take into account the actual degradation mechanisms but use S-N curves or Goodman-type diagrams and introduce som...

Damage Assessment of Drilled Hybrid Composite Laminates

Hole drilling operations are common in fibre reinforced plastics FRP’s to facilitate fastener assembly to other parts in more complex structures. As these materials are non-homogeneous, drilling causes some damages, like delamination, for example. Delamination can be reduced by a careful selection of drilling parameters, drill material and drill bit geometry. In this work two types of laminates...
